What is the GATE exam?
GATE is one single exam which is common to all students and which puts the abilities of a student to test and also checks their aptitude in science. Specific to the stream of subjects, the abilities of problem-solving and the comprehension of a student is scaled through this test. Where will you get admissions through the score obtained in GATE?
Your score that you have secured in GATE will be made use of to come up with a merit list. Based on this score, and also the calculation of weightage, every candidate will be given a final score as well as a rank. This obtained merit list will be used in the counseling (centralized) in order to secure admissions in NITs. Once the results of the GATE exams are published, the student must apply to those IITs of his or her choice. Every IIT would then publish a candidate list that would be used for next admission rounds. This would consist of things like written tests as well as one-to-one interviews. Students with great merit will also be provided financial aids and scholarships.
Apart from this, counsellings at state level are conducted for central as well as state science and engineering colleges. Many states in the country, except for a few of them admit Students for M.Tech through these GATE exams. All details pertaining to the counsellings in-state levels will be declared a while after the exam gets over.
