Let’s begin with his introduction.

Hey Everyone. My name is Udit Bansal and I got AIR 1291 in SSC-CGL exam in year 2016. It was my 2nd attempt. I did my B.Tech in ECE from MNNIT Allahabad. And currently, I am employed.

Preparation Strategy used by SSC-CGL Topper to Prepare for SSC-CGL exam?

Interviewer: What was the motive behind you appearing for SSC-CGL exam 2016?

Udit: To get a government job.

Interviewer: When did you start preparing for the SSC-CGL exam?

Udit : Last year. At first, I thought it is easy to paper but looking at the competition this exam offer, every mark matter so this time I took it a little serious.

Interviewer: Up to what date were you able to complete the course once? What was your target as to how many questions to practice in each section? What was the sequence in which you prepared the sections?

Udit : There is nothing like completing the course as GK section is totally dynamic and for other sections, you have to practice questions. I did not follow any specific sequence, I practiced a lot of paper sets in the given sequence as i was able to complete the paper in the allotted time sequentially.

Interviewer: Which sections according to require more practice than the others and why?

Udit: Math and Reasoning because only these two sections have limited course.

Interviewer: Which study material and standard books would you recommend for SSC-CGL Aspirants in each section?

Udit: For English section, I would recommend paramount and Word power made easy for Vocabulary. For math and reasoning just practice questions from wherever you can get and note down the important formulas or method at one place for revision.

Interviewer: How did you keep the subjects fresh in your memory the entire time? Did you revise the subjects regularly or you left the revision for last few months? What was your strategy for revision in the last few months?

Udit: My strength is mathematics so I focus on to attempt the question correctly, I keep my basics clear, not try to go for shortcut too often and note down important formulas and methods and then revise them. Paper practice is the best way to remember them.

Interviewer: What is the role of mock tests in your success in the SSC-CGL exam 2016? How many mock tests did you attempt? When did you start attempting mock tests?

Udit: Mock tests for SSC-CGL exam, played a crucial role in my success because you have to complete the paper in 2 hrs and this helps where I was lacking if I am not able to complete the paper within the allotted time.

Interviewer: How was your score in Mock Tests? Is there any correlation between mock test performance and actual SSC-CGL performance?

Udit: Scoring good marks in Mocks test gives you confidence for the main exam but ultimately you have to keep hold of your nerves during the exam because 1 or 2 difficult questions may ruin your day and you can commit silly mistakes in easy questions too.

Exam specific questions

Interviewer: How was SSC-CGL paper this year? Give us some insights into SSC-CGL-2017 paper and compare it to past year question paper.

Udit: This year paper was comparatively easier than last year. My paper was held on 21st of August and as many people were saying paper was easy for later shifts, maybe that’s the reason for that, otherwise, I felt the paper was easy as compared to last year.

Interviewer: How did you feel after seeing the first few questions? Did you feel relaxed and calm or you were anxious during the first few questions? If you felt anxious then how did you calm yourself?

Udit: I felt relaxed and calm.

Interviewer: How did you go about attempting the paper? How did you distribute time among various sections? Please give a detailed description of the time management strategy you followed?

Udit: I attempted the questions in the order it was there, no specific strategy followed except some guessing at the end.

Personal Questions

Udit: Phew! It really is a long journey to go through all the phases of the exam and rescheduling of exam makes it more difficult but I take it as an opportunity to practice more questions.

Interviewer: Did you expect such a result after giving the SSC-CGL exam?

Udit: I expected a better result but unfortunately I didn’t perform well in TIER-III descriptive paper.

Interviewer: How did you feel the moment you saw the results?

Udit: Normal.

Interviewer: What is the role of family and friends in your success in the SSC-CGL exam?

Udit: Well actually nobody played a part in my preparation but also nobody interrupted my preparation, they know I can do it, so I did it.
